ifttt:

I’d like to humbly announce that the first beta invites for a project I’m incredibly excited about are out the door. The project is called ifttt, shorthand for “if this then that”. With this blog I hope to begin fleshing out some of the initial inspirations that led to the inception of ifttt…

Jostein will be in conversation with QUT’s Craig Bolland talking about writing, his creative process, and posing the question, ‘Where does philosophy fit in daily life?’ There will be plenty of time for questions and audience interaction.

You are welcome to invite family and friends to attend this unique opportunity to get inside the mind of one of the world’s most popular writers.

WHERE/WHEN:

The event will be held from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm in room W201 at QUT Kelvin Grove on Thursday the 2nd of September.

So you’re going to vote in a Federal election.

In an effort to understand who/what they hell I’m going to vote for, I did a bit of R&D on the interwebs. Just a few snippets that amused me RE health:

The ALP stated they are:

Injecting $1.5 billion in public hospital emergency departments.

Oh I see what you did there. ‘Injecting’ and it’s medical related. Good one.

Training for 6000 more doctors, including doubling the number of GPs trained every year.”

Ok. So you need to be super smart to be a doctor right? Well at least get a top OP etc… so it’s hard to get into medicine… because doctor’s have people’s lives in their hands… so we’re just going to start letting less smart people become doctors?

I think there’s a natural cross over for those in the ad industry here. House and his team work on a range of benefits and weaknesses till they come up with a single minded proposition. So hand me that scalpel friends…

Or maybe we’re getting them from OS. Because you know, that’s worked out so well for us to date…

Then the Coalition are promising to:

Introduce local hospital board staffed by local health experts.

I’ve seen enough episodes of House and Greys Anatomy to know there’s a sh*t load of bureaucracy that goes in individual hospital admin departments. Can you imagine a bunch of them getting together and trying to figure out what’s ‘best practice’ and where funds should be allocated… Don’t they know it just all comes down to lupus?!

I have no more direction for my vote than when I started researching.

YAY.

“[Dexter is] a film noir graphic novel with a Kubrick/Cronenberg/Scorsese influence… All my sets had ceilings, and we were always looking at low angles and wide-angle lenses to give it that sense as if it were drawn. There’s lots of thought about that. It’s not just arbitrary camera placement.”

You are good with your instruments… haha very enjoyable. Probably could have been better, but Fey and Carell are so good together.
